I will have to admit, I am the worst at keeping a “routine”. The only thing I do each and every day, twice a day, is brush and floss my teeth. Everything else is up for grabs. Skincare? Ha! Each morning I wash my face, but with what is always up for grabs. However, after the last few months of working and wearing a mask, things needed to change.

Skin Working Conditions
During the regular workday as a nurse practitioner, I tend to wear masks when rounding on patients in isolation for a short amount of time. With Covid-19, wearing a mask has become an eight-hour event.
While I wear a surgical mask that is lighter weight most of the day, for a few hours I have a tight-fitting N95 in place. I also cannot wear makeup at all. Anytime the masks get dirty, they cannot be sterilized.

My skin had taken a beating. It was irritated, sensitive, and extremely itchy most of the day. Trying to avoid touching my face had become difficult. Even lathering on the cream at night and first thing in the morning didn’t help. My current skincare routine wasn’t cutting it anymore.

I’ve been using Rodan + Fields off and on over the past few years. Love the products, but as I mentioned, I don’t really do well “sticking” to a routine. While I treated myself to a few of their products over the year, I didn’t stress too much if I didn’t have the products on hand.
A few weeks ago I dug into my gym bag looking to see what I had for shampoo (my gym has been closed since March) and was thrilled to find all of the Soothe Regimen. I thought I had finished the product off, but thankfully I had some left!
I used it for a few days until every last drop was gone. My face was noticeably different. I went back to using my regular skincare products, and within a few days I had the same issues as before.
I knew it was time to replenish my stock and buy more.
When I reached out to my consultant, to see if there were any deals at the moment (I could have gotten a free eye cream with my purchase!) she saw my “shopping” list and finally asked why I wasn’t a consultant. I pondered it for a few days and realized the right fit for what I wanted for my skincare as a consultant.
Consultant vs. Preferred Customer
So, why the leap?
While the PC Perks Preferred Customer program offered 10% off every order, free shipping (with orders of $80 or more) and flexible subscription plan (you can adjust or cancel at any time), the Consultant program offers a larger discount and my kit replenished everything I needed immediately.
My skin is honestly thanking me each day!

Products to Try
So, if you’re like me and can’t keep to a routine or don’t know where to start, here are my quick suggestions!

Pick an entire Regimen! There are many to choose from, pick the one that suits your skincare goals! Of course, my preferred regimen is Soothe – which helps with visible redness, dryness, and sensitivity. Next is Redefine, which helps with lines, wrinkles, and loss of firmness. For discoloration and uneven skin tone, try Reverse (either lightening or brightening regimens). Then for adult acne and visible signs of aging, use Unblemish.
These products aren’t only for adults! There are two lines for teens and young adults. Spotless can help stop pimples and prevent breakouts (my boys have both used this with great results!). Then there is the Recharge regimen for balance, boost, and defense for skincare starting your 20’s. (How I wish I had this 20 years ago!)
Not up for a whole skincare plan? Then start with eye cream. Redefine Multi-function Eye Cream is for everyone. Since EVERYONE should be using an eye cream, give this one a try. It has been on my countertop for the last five years.
If you need a bit of help in the eyelash department – try Lash Boost. Add length and thickness to your eyelashes by applying a thin serum above your top lashes each night. You can pair it with a regimen (for more savings) or try it solo. Your blinkers will thank you!

Remember – there is NO commitment to anything. Rodan + Fields offers a 60-Day Money-Back Guarantee. I certainly will not be upset if you try something and change your mind later.
If you have ever been on the fence on trying this product – don’t hesitate! Your skin might thank you!
Thanks for sharing this information. I used to have to wear a mask and remember what it does to your face after those long hours. Appreciate the information and your face looks beautiful.
I have tried redefine! I really like R&D Products, especially the active hydration serum! They have something for everyone.
I love the Rodan + Fields eyelash conditioner. I can’t wait to try more of their stuff now that my skin is under more stress!
I am glad you have found a regiment that works for your skin – it can be so hard! My skin care products that I have faithfully been using changed formulas and I was very worried I would need to try other alternatives. However, the new formula has worked so I am happy! If something changes again, I will keep Rodan & Fields in mind.
What a great review and I’m glad you found something that works for you! Good luck on your entrepreneurial journey as a consultant!
That’s wonderful that what you needed was right there all along! I can’t imagine wearing a mask all day. It bothers me after about 30 minutes!
I took my 16yo to Target today, we had our masks on for about 45 minutes and he turned and asked me how I can even to this for 3-4 hours. You do get use to it!
I have used these products before! They are great!
Thanks for the tip!
Thank you for sharing this line a facial skin care! R &D have always had amazing products!

We love Rodan & Fields products. Lashboost is one of my favorites to add on!
I have not been doing a good job of taking care of my skin lately. I need to get some new products to try.
Yeah, I should probably look into taking care of my skin someday. 😂 Mom life.
Wow, I can imagine how the mask wear would mess with your skin!
This is a good reminder of the importance of skin care. I really need to establish and stick with a routine!
R&F has great products. The soothe really does what it says. I’ve tried all of the lines except Redefine and they produce great results for sure!

My skincare regimen is nothing crazy, but I definitely need to cleanse and moisturize twice a day to feel my best!
What a great incentive for such a great product!
My skin routine has completely gone out the window since quarantine began. I put some makeup on before I go on a Zoom meeting, but that’s it.
That’s more than I do! We did a porch photo shoot and it was the first time in over two months I wore make up! It was weird!
As a Walmart cashier I am reqeuired to wear a mask too. My face is often the last thing I worry about. I am 61 years old withut any wrinkles. I think I signed up for your Nurses Decoded emails. I love that blog, by the way..
Thank you!
